Tusen takk for innspill og gode råd.

Jeg bestemmte meg for bånd,

da jeg synes som endel andre her,

at det brakte opp den røde fargen

fra borden nederst på genseren.

om jeg skal sy på disse pyntebåndene 

på denne guttegenseren.

Den er ganske fin uten også.

We got Gold!

In the Olympics that is..

Yippii!

My OL-knitting is a sweater, 

size 4 years.

The colors are a little bold,

but I like it that way,

its for a boy.

 The pattern is from Dale.

From pattern book nr 51,

called Dalebarn.
Yarn used is Heilo.

The main colors in "my" sweater is GOLD and black.

Dette er min OL- strikking.

Det har blitt så lite blogging i det siste,

men jeg lover komme sterkere tilbake!

Last day of January already!

The sun was out today,

but not for long,
it was cloudy most of the day.

   

Its still chilly here,

and the model was complaining a little

about being cold everywhere

except for on her shoulders, she said.

This Hood has a great fit.

It follows close to the neckline,

and it sits snug on the shoulders.

Its also knitted top down,

so the length can be variable.

I stopped mine before the armpit

so that it can easily be worn under a jacket.

The size is for a grown up,
man or woman.

 Jeg har hatt flere forespørsmål etter
en voksen strørrelse av Vikinghetta for barn.
Hadde ikke så lyst til å lage denne helt lik barnestørrelsen,
men den ligner nok litt allikevel.
Jeg har brukt Cascade 220 wool også denne gang,
men Smart eller Rauma 3-trådsgarn
kan fungerer kanskje også.
Jeg brukte pinner nummer 3,5 mm.

Time is flying

..and February will be here before we know it...

Blogging has been slow going here lately, 

but I have a few projects in the makings.

An adult size 

"Viking Hoodie" 

is about to be published,

just waiting for some sun

so that I can shoot some pictures.
Depending on the weather,

maybe I could get it done today....

My poor puppy has been shaved

Actually she is not a puppy, but 14 years old!

We had our first trip of the year, to the groomer,

and her under coat was very tangled.

Compared to our other dog, same breed,

her coat is pretty curly,

and the undercoat was like felted wool.

I love wool, but not on my dog..

Kine's new "Lion look"

The groomer suggested shaving,

and we went for it.

Its getting warmer here pretty soon,

but as a transition she needed a coat, quick.

This one, made in China, had to do,

my hands are busy with other projects.

Honestly, she sleeps in my bedroom

most all day, and all night,

so the outside elements shouldn't bather her much.

This book is great!

 I always get a Barnes and Nobel gift card

in my stocking for Christmas.

So off I went to the book store.

This book caught my eye

and I love it!

Lots of great patterns

patterned on old Norwegian clothing,

some belonging to a museum in Iowa.

Vesterheim Museum.

Nostalgic reading, great patterns,

old pictures...

I always imagine how the immigrants,

who arrived here many years ago,

came to stay for good,

and how they must have been longing home.

Heck, I have my sentimental moments

even though I get back to my roots

about once a year!

Interesting to see early pictures

about how they settled,

and how they kept their traditions alive

in a new country.
And great patterns too!

Og vi var heldige som

fikk ha denne koseklumpen hos oss!

Several people left comments about our cute little girl..
How could they know that this is a BOY,

Christmas songs

I caught this little guy this morning,

and I do believe his is practicing his Christmas songs

from the very top of the palm tree!

The last few days have been gorgeous,

sunny and much warmer.

Great to be able to sit in the back yard.

Last week we had freezing weather

...so I had to finish a couple of small projects.

For both these projects I used Alpaca from Drops.

The hat is knitted with double yarn to make it bigger.

The pattern was made for an infant.

The hood was originally knitted

with Cascade 220 wool,

but for a smaller child

Alpaca worked fine.

It is much smaller and very soft!

Denne passet helt flott til et mindre barn.

Strikket i Alpaca fra Drops.

Mønster er Vikinghette.

This was my fence post last week.

It was fun as long as it lasted!

Miniatyr votter/Miniature Mittens

Jeg har hatt det travelt med nye mønster.

Tenkte det kunne være gøy

med små votter på juletreet.

 

Disse "kom til" sist helg

og mønstert ligger her 

for de som har lyst til å prøve seg.

Jeg har brukt Lanett babyull,

og pinner nr 2.

Ferdig lengde er ca. 9,5 cm.

These are great for the Christmas tree!

I used thin babywool,

Dale Baby Ull, Lanett or similar.

Denne kaller jeg Vikinghette.

Jeg sydde et par lignende i sommer, i lin,

og tenkte at kanskje den kunne strikkes også.

Tror denne kan bli god og varm,

utenpå jakken, eller kanskje inni?

Brukte latviske fletter på kantene,

men ellers lite mønster,

ville ha den enkel.

Kan jeg få vise bort den minste mormor ungen

Hun har på seg lue og sko heklet av norske May.

Jeg kjøpte dette settet her i etsy butikken hennes,

og jeg falt pladask for disse fargene.

Og her er gulle jenta i andunge kostymet

som hun brukte på Halloween.

A few things..

The hat is done

and ready to be shipped off,

together with a pair of warm pants,

marvelous for colder weather.

And in our garden

we still have peppers..

At the moment they are roasting in the oven.

Great recipe for salsa:

8 Roma tomatoes

2 large Jalapenos

3 Garlic segments

Slice the tomatoes and the jalapenos` in two,

put them them on the rack,

skin up.
(Put the rack on top of a pan,
or it will be messy.
Legg alt på en rist, 
ha en langpanne under).

Put the garlic segments on the rack also,

but leave the skin on.

Roast it all under the broiler

until tomato skin turns brown.

Put it all in the blender,

add 2 tbls (spiseskjeer) of honey,

a pinch (klype) of salt,

juice of 1 lime,

and blend it.

Serve with corn chips

(and a cold beer..)
